“The FloraOptima is a reliable workhorse that does what it needs to do”

It started with nothing and now, only a few years later, supplies cut flowers to four thousand shops in four countries. When Przemek Pawlak was given the opportunity to work for the Danish Plantas Group in his home country Poland, he seized it with both hands. He built up a regular customer base with his team and invested in a production line. To top it off, he opened his own office in 2021: Plantas Poland.

Plantas Poland supplies cut flowers to shops in Poland and the surrounding countries. The majority of sales consist of monobouquets and a small part of mixed bouquets and potted plants. The company is located in Rychnow-Kolonia, where there is a professionally furnished warehouse with an area of no less than sixteen hundred square metres.

Przemek wants to distinguish itself by offering high quality bouquets. “I mainly deliver to discount shops in small and medium-sized cities”, he says. “It is not easy for the owners of these shops to buy beautiful flowers at a good price. At Plantas Poland, we face the challenge of finding the right balance.”

“We had little or no influence on the processing process”

Own production line

During the initial period, the bouquets were bought ready-made from suppliers. On the one hand easy, because Przemek did not have to look at the production process. On the other hand, it was difficult to add a few extras. “We had little or no influence on the processing process, which allowed us to distinguish ourselves little differently than price.”

To get more grip on the quality and growth of Plantas Poland, a production line was chosen. “We invested in the FloraOptima of Bercomex. This machine can cut, leaf, bind, wrap, and collect. A nice solution, especially in combination with the great flexibility. From tulips to roses, the machine is able to handle all kinds of cut flowers.”

Reliable workhorse

Przemek praises the user-friendliness of the FloraOptima. “Employees can easily customise the settings themselves. That’s important to us because we process many different kinds of flowers.” Malfunctions have hardly occurred in recent years. “The FloraOptima is a reliable workhorse that does what it needs to do.”

If there are problems, the technical service in the Netherlands will be called on. “Employees often collaborate with us remotely or send parts. The longer we use our FloraOptima, I expect that we will need more support. I therefore hope that Bercomex will sell more machines in Poland, so that a local service facility may be available in the long run.”

How does Przemek see the future cooperation with Bercomex? “I want to look at a machine for labelling, but that is not yet the case. Due to all developments in the world, our focus is first on creating more stability. Our ambition for the coming years is to add large players in the Polish market to our clientele. It would be nice if that is realised.”

“From tulips to roses, the machine is able to handle all kinds of cut flowers."
