Customercase: Bloemenliefde
Back to overview‘It’s just more fun to work this way.’
In Ouddorp (NL) you’ll find Kwekerij Bloemenliefde, a true family business driven by passion and craftsmanship. Owner Kees Tanis first started growing gourds, but through his wife he found his way into flowers. Today, he runs a diverse company together with his family, with a pick-your-own garden, a small stall for direct sales, and large-scale flower production for the auction. His daughter Leah (14) is already deeply involved in the business and will likely take over one day. “The youth are the future,” says Kees, which is why he deliberately let Leah do this interview.

Flower love in heart and soul
Bloemenliefde combines the local charm of the pick-your-own garden and the flower stall with large-scale production of summer flowers on six hectares of land. From ranunculus and peonies to sunflowers and brassicas, the company supplies flowers almost all year round. Quality and the story behind the flowers are always central. Leah shares: “Everyone is welcome over here. People enjoy hearing our story and simply having a chat.”
Step towards the Flora Optima
Earlier this year, Bloemenliefde invested in the Flora Optima from Bercomex. The existing bunching line no longer met the company’s needs for speed and reliability. “Sometimes the machine just stopped or made a lot of noise. That was frustrating,” Leah explains. Choosing the Flora Optima was a logical step, faster, more efficient, and more quiet. “Now the line never gets jammed, and work is much calmer.”
“Don’t hesitate, just do it. It works perfect.”
“The machine almost never stands still. Only when the collection belt is full.”
